Although [Life Is a Dream] is presented on a bare stage, the
way it would have been during the golden age of Spanish theatre,
there is nothing dated about this lively and ultimately inspiring
production by Logos Theatre Company. Co-director Kenneth
McClellan's revised version of Edward
Fitzgerald's Victorian
translation has a fresh, modern ring, and the play's themes of
nature versus nurture and destiny versus choice are as relevant
as ever. McClellan himself heads a keen and expressive
cast as King Basilius of Poland.
